Wake Up America
the world's a stage

Barack Obama and Scott Brown are two of a kind. They both managed to crush the proverbial machine but do they have a clear understanding about the forces that are responsible for bringing them to power? Obama crushed the Clinton machine for reasons that nobody will ever understand. That's what democracy is, a very messy and unpredictable process. Republicans, who are "divide and conquer" specialists thought that if they helped Obama defeat Hillary, he would be easy to defet at the polls.

Obama proved them wrong and Republican strategists have been looking for the opportunity to get even, ever since.

The fanatics who hate Edward Kennedy put all their eggs in one basket for this anti-Kennedy/Obama crusade that spared no prisoners.

Following Scott's victory, Andrew Card (seen whispering in Bush's ear above) said that a single, senate seat loss is a a "HELLLOOO" wake-up call -the death of health care reform. Pundit, David Gergen said that Scott's victory was the death-nail of the dream to have universal, health care coverage in America. Scott Brown voted for universal health insurance coverage in Massachusetts, so Gergen's premature ejaculation/pundit spin is not appropriate.

Democrats, it is widely claimed, are being forced to re-evaluate their plans for health care reform after Republican Scott Brown's victory for the U.S. Senate seat in Massachusetts made clear that independent and even many Democratic voters are concerned about health insurance reforms being debated in Washington.

We think this election was stolen because we trust Zogby.

Almost all the polls had gone against Martha Coakley, the Democratic Party candidate, except that of John Zogby poll.

Zogby had claimed that Martha should win the election though with a slender margin.

John Zogby is a political pollster and first senior fellow at The Catholic University of America's Life Cycle Institute. He is the founder, president and CEO of Zogby International, a polling firm known for both phone polling and interactive, Internet-based polling.

Zogby founded the polling firm Zogby International in 1984. Since then, he has conducted polls and focus groups around the world, though he has gained the most publicity for his polls of United States Presidential elections.

We believe that most pollsters are in the business of trying to shape public opinion and we have absolutely no reason to doubt Zogby.

In the Integrity business, one man who hasn't lost it, is the majority.

This is not sour grapes, Scott Young may indeed prove to be a worthy successor to the late Senator Kennedy and it is not reasonable or fair to blame him, to prejudge him or to malign his personal integrity for the words or actions of others.

According to Nathan Barker and Brad Friedman, "Easily Hacked Voting Systems were Used in MA Special Election for the U.S. Senate." Doesn't anybody care? They go on to say; "The electronic voting systems used in Massachusetts are notoriously plagued with problems and vulnerabilities, and are in violation of federal voting system standards. Moreover, they are sold, programmed, and maintained by a company with a disturbing criminal background."

How can this situation be tolerated in a nation that respects the law?

Isn't this clear enough?

The Diebold electronic voting machines to be used in more than 90% of the state's districts are the same demonstrably unreliable ballot scanning systems that were seen being hacked in the Emmy-nominated HBO documentary Hacking Democracy. The rest of the machines used in the Bay State are made by Sequoia Voting System, Inc., the same manufacturer whose machines were "misconfigured," to switch votes in Erie County, NY's Nov. 3, 2009 election and which have failed, and even been hacked, in a number of cases around the country.

Making matters worse, the company who sells, services and programs the Diebold optical-scan paper ballot systems to be used next week, LHS Associates, has a disturbing criminal background, and has admitted to tampering illegally with voting systems during past elections.

That's democracy !

Despite everything, it is now up to Barack Obama and Scott Young to prove that the people are always right. They are both quality candidates who have the talent and the ability to use the power they have earned and inherited through forces that nobody will ever be able to fully understand, for the benefit of all the people, whether they voted for them or not.

Congratulations.

Analysis: Like Einstein said, people's capacity for stupidity is infinite. Republicans steal Massachusettes and the common refrain heard around the world in the media is that Obama is a failed President who will likely only serve one term as President. If Obama loses, the reason for the loss has already been established. Sounds kind of pre-meditated, doesn't it? [January 23, 2010]

When an election is stolen, the reason why Scott Brown won is clear. It was simply stolen for him. But in the coming days, months and years, pundits will come up with all kinds of different reasons, to justify their own prejudices. They will all be interesting stories, but none will be more entertaining than the one that was published by Vinay Mendon, on January 21, 2010. Here's what he had to say:

If Barack Obama wants to jam the brakes on his sliding popularity, he should buy a pickup truck.

Consider the strange case of Scott Brown.

One month ago, Brown was an unknown entity on America's national stage. On Tuesday night in Massachusetts, he defeated Martha Coakley in a special election to fill the Senate seat held by the late Ted Kennedy.

As Brown decamps to Washington Thursday, he is the first Republican senator to be elected from the state since 1972. But does he really deserve the credit?

Allow me to put forth a theory: Scott Brown's 2005 GMC Canyon actually won the election.

During the victory speech, the truck was mentioned more times than Brown's wife, their daughters, his party or specific policies.

Here's Brown describing the congratulatory call he received from Obama: "When I spoke to the President, the first thing I said, "Would you like me to drive the truck down to Washington so you can see it?'"

His supporters erupted with wild applause.

Here's Brown describing a watershed moment:

"Let me tell you, when I first got the feeling something big was happening in this campaign was when I was driving along in a road out in central Massachusetts – in my truck, yes! And it has over 201,000 (miles) now!"

The crowd started chanting "about the truck."

And here's Brown describing his long-shot candidacy: "It all started with me, my truck, and a very few amount of dedicated volunteers."

"Truckdemonium!"

Honestly, I kept waiting for the truck to skid onto the stage, flash high-beams at the boisterous throng and credit its rugged powertrain for hauling Mr. Brown to the promised land in a state filled with elitist foreign sedans.

The truck was mentioned in more than 200 stories during the campaign.

Google returns more than 64,000 hits when you search for "Scott Brown's truck."

It captivated voters and even starred in a political ad that could easily be repurposed as a GM commercial.

In the spot, Brown introduces the truck. He climbs into the truck. The truck races along a highway. The truck idles in a driveway. Brown declares his love for "this old truck." We even get a view from inside as Brown is driving, as if we're experiencing what the truck is experiencing.

The only surprise comes at the end when the voice-over does not say: "I'm Scott Brown's truck. And I approve this message."

Obama, sensing an upset, bolted to Boston this weekend to rally the troops behind Coakley. Alas, he got sidetracked by the truck.

"Forget the truck," he told a crowd. "Everyone can buy a truck."

It had come to this: The president of the United States of America was publicly chastising a motor vehicle.

Back at the victory podium, Brown recalled the incident: "I didn't mind when the President came here and criticized me and talked about some of the things that he disagreed with me on. But let me tell you, when he started to criticize my truck, that's where I draw the line!"

And who can blame him?

This truck is a political phenom. It's now threatening to run over Obama and turn health-care reform into road kill.

Obama, there is only one way to respond: You need to get a truck of your own.

Put your faltering presidency in a long bed. Cover it with baseballs and apple pie. Then watch as your mojo gets a jump-start and you reconnect with the disgruntled masses.

Reinvention, Mr. President. Bold moves. Grab life by the horns. Like a rock. Yes you can.

This editorial was aptly titled, Obama needs a pickup, as in truck.
