For over a year, the far right has been making health care reform into the boogeyman, and now that the health care bill has been passed, the rhetoric of Republicans like Minority Leader John Boehner, are encouraging a violent backlash. Speaking about a congressional Democrat, Boehner said,
"Take [Rep.] Steve Driehaus, for example. He may be a dead man. He can’t go home to the west side of Cincinnati."
It is therefore no surprise that Democrats are currently targets of irresponsible death threats. Moreover, it is no surprise that those who oppose hatred and violence will vote for Democrats in November, or at least, they should.
