The Truth is a Lie

Most people do not know the difference between a conspiracy theory and a fact.

"The human brain was built to look for patterns and causes, but you can be misled," said Leonard Mlodinow, a physicist at California Institute of Technology and author of "The Drunkard's Walk: How Randomness Rules Our Lives."

Michael Shermer, publisher of Skeptic magazine and an author who has written about the topic, agreed.

"We are pattern-seeking primates," Shermer said. "We connect the dots, and often they really are connected. But we don't have a baloney detection module that says this is a true pattern and this is not. We just assume all patterns are real."

Basically, Shermer said, you can show people a random collection of anything and they will find a pattern.

Unfortunately, the patterns that we find are terribly wrong.

Make this a teachable moment. Identify all the patterns of the Michael Jackson case, they're on the news ad nauseum and you can find many of them right here; Michael Jackson abused drugs therefore his doctors enabled his death, etc., etc., etc.

To make a long story short, the verdict was reached and then, the police sought to collect the evidence, and that's not how you solve a crime. That's how you very carefully and deliberately develop a scapegoat.

What does this all mean for lawyers who are trying to defend an innocent person like Dr. Conrad Murray? It means that ignorance is the biggest liar and the failure to expose the ludicrous claims of all the "experts" who leap to conclusions is the biggest threat to granting ignorance the opportunit to pervert the judcial process.

Final point: There is absolutely no excuse for keeping innocent people in jail and it is therefore safe to conclude that criminal cases like the following perversion of the judicial process are disgusting.

If you are like most, you will probably not take the time to read the so-called "disgusting" link, and that assures the level of ignorance that is necessary to hard-wire the next innnocent person straight to jail. The simple fact of the matter is, we lack the time to sort it all out and our ignorance is ultimately the source of every judicial perversion.

Here's at least one person who is rotting in prison for reasons that encompass ALL OF THE ABOVE (making ludicrous and foolish connections) and if we took the time to properly investigate, such extreme and inexcusable ignorance would not be a factor in this persons incarceration.

Sooner or later, the truth comes out, so what should we do about the misleading "experts" who are ultimately exposed? Do we need an "expert abuse" Directory to expose the systematic perversion of the judicial process?

Or should we take the time to educate ourselves, to be able to clarify the distinction between experts and hired guns who mask ignorance.
